Koast Radio 106.6FM is so excited to be invited to be part of the Newcastle Dog And Cat Shelter “Family Fun Day”, which took place on Monday 6 May. We were asked to provide background music and make public announcements. It was a great day and a lovely turn, even though the truth was clear in the middle and it was quiet! Along with Koast Radio 106.6FM, there were dance shows, stables, and a small dog show. We have been running a campaign since early August last year, to try and help the shelter find the homes of some of its residents, and the campaign was the vision of one of our presenters, “The G-Man” presenting “The Renegade Rock Show” and “The Saturday Show”.

A large number of our other presenters are more than willing to help the campaign with their shows, too! We are very pleased to be able to say that our regular “Pet Of The Week” posts on Koast Radio 106.6FM on the Facebook page and pages devoted to various shows have resulted in a successful re-run for several residents. We have been asking for jobs of donations to the community of blankets, dogs, and cats, old newspapers, dog food, cat cats and mouse toys, and more. Because they have no dogs and cats in their care, and they have rabbits, guinea pigs (occasional ferret), and other farm animals including goats, sheep, pigs, donkeys, chickens, and horses.

They don’t want to recycle farm animals but they need things like animal feed and bedding. So far, we have brought a large number of donated items to the shelter and our audience has been very generous, and a large number of them are taking things directly to the shelter. Layla Rutter, the chief executive officer commented: “Wow! How much response we have had to Pete’s Weekly Radio Radio 106.6FM campaign has been running. Exposed animals have received a lot of attention and we have been bombarded with questions and requests for more information on domesticated animals.

The campaign has opened up a whole new audience for us and created a wonderful opportunity to find more homes for our animals. In addition to helping us find new homes, the kind support and generosity of the audience warmed the heart. Associated with the offerings of food, bedding, and toys we have all found that makes life better for the animals that care for us until they find new loving homes. We are so grateful to all of the Koast and their listeners who have been so supportive and shown how kind and kind people can be. Many thanks to all those people who opened their hearts to one of our animals for giving them a loving new home. A big thank you to you and the Koast team for all you have done. We are very happy and thankful for all your support for helping us make our lives better for our animals. ”
